Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Dave Palmer

Dave is one of the co-founders of Highland Medical Staffing. As a previous traveling RN, Dave saw a niche for highly-qualified, dedicated nurses to support facilities throughout Iowa and across the United States. As Dave advanced his vision, he saw the potential of Highland Medical Staffing. Dave brings with him over a decade of nursing experience in the specialties of hospice, medical/surgical, orthopedics, and oncology. As the CEO for Highland Medical Group, Dave was instrumental in achieving the initial JCAHO certification in 2018. As a visionary leader, Highland Medical Group nursing staff describe him as a transparent leader and motivated to cultivate an environment fostering integrity and unity. Dave received his BSN from Grand View University in Des Moines, IA. In his spare time, Dave enjoys spending time with his family on their hobby farm and camping with friends and family as well as the occasional round of golf. Dave has been elected to the local school board and is currently the president.

Chief Operating Officer

Greg Opseth

Greg Opseth started at Highland Medical Group as COO in April 2021. Opseth brings with him nearly a decade of leadership experience in healthcare. Most recently, Opseth served the CNO at Guthrie County Hospital (GCH) in Guthrie Center, IA. Opseth was instrumental in launching a shared governance platform in the nursing department at GCH. Under Opseth’s leadership, the GCH nursing team achieved 100 percent patient satisfaction scores in four different HCAHPS categories, launched a new staffing matrix and FTE structure, and implemented unique, separate recognition programs for both registered nurses (DAISY Award) and certified nursing assistants (Sunshine Award). Opseth is a member of the Board of Directors at Nebraska Methodist College in Omaha, Nebraska. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Iowa Organization for Nursing Leadership, Iowa Nurses Association, and the Iowa Nurses Foundation. Opseth is also a member of the American Nurses Association and American Organization for Nursing Leadership. Opseth graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in Spanish from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Nebraska Methodist College in Omaha, Nebraska. He obtained his master’s degree of health care administration from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In his spare time, he enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife and 2 children. At the top of his bucket list is visiting all the MLB stadiums nationwide—so far, he has visited 11 of the 30.

Corporate Controller

Angie Healy

Angie started with Highland Medical Staffing as Corporate Controller in June of 2022. Prior to starting with HMS, she practiced public accounting for over ten years as a CPA, primarily providing tax preparation, payroll, and bookkeeping services for individuals and businesses. She has always loved working with people and assisting clients in their decision-making processes. Angie’s role in the company is payroll, invoicing, and many other accounting & financial duties. She has found that she still gets to help people - it’s just a smaller, more focused group of people and she really loves that. She also has a passion for learning both professionally and personally. Angie graduated from the University Of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Spanish minor, and within a year successfully completed all the CPA exams. She is a member of the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In her spare time, Angie enjoys making memories with her three young children, husband, dogs and close family & friends. Traveling, eating good food and keeping active are also at the top of her list.

Digital Media Specialist

Rachel Johnson

Rachel is responsible for creating compelling graphic content across all web, media and internal platforms. With her love of animals, Rachel initially studied Animal Science and made plans to become a veterinarian. However, she always loved digital design & her creative side soon found her successfully completing freelance multi-media design projects for Iowa/Midwestern businesses. Rachel has a strong passion for working personally with companies to improve & grow their online presence.

In addition to digital work, Rachel lives on a century farm & spends time assisting with the farm operations wherever she can. She often finds her spare time consists of watching sports, keeping up with the latest trends, riding her horses, & organic-gardening alongside her ducks.

Administrative Support Specialist

Monica Fitzgibbon

When Monica is not working, she enjoys spending time with her son and pets. She prefers to be outside biking, hiking, camping, fishing and all things outdoors related. She recently moved onto a tiny farm and looks forward to life in the country. Her family loves to grow their own food and raise chickens. She also enjoys woodworking and learning new skills.

Co-Founder & Chief Nursing Officer

Katie Palmer

Katie is one of the co-founders of Highland Medical Group. Katie brings with her 15 years of nursing experience in specialties like emergency medicine, critical care, telemetry, medical/surgical, and home health. As CNO for Highland Medical Group, Katie was instrumental in achieving the initial JCAHO certification in 2018. Additionally, Katie is responsible for facilitating staff education, coordination of staff in-services and other professional development activities, and finally active in staff recruitment, scheduling, and credentialing. Katie received her BSN from Grandview University in Des Moines, IA. In her spare time, Katie volunteers with Cedar Highland 4-H group & St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Churdan, IA. Clients describe Katie as highly engaged and very skilled in emergency nursing.

Manager of Strategic Partnerships

Julie Palmer

Julie Palmer started at Highland Medical Group as Manager of Strategic Partnerships in August of 2021. Julie is a speech-language pathologist with more than 15 years of experience and over 10 years in management. In addition to working at Highland, Julie owns a company specializing in helping children with literacy disorders. Julie graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Northern Iowa. She obtained her master’s degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Julie loves watching football and is a big fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Drake Bulldogs. Julie’s son currently plays football for Drake University and her daughter attends the University of Nebraska. Julie also enjoys spending time outdoors; specifically on the beach! She loves helping and developing others and is excited to be a part of the Highland Medical Staffing Team.

Credentialing Specialist

Amy Minnihan

Amy started with Highland Medical Staffing in October 2022. Prior to starting with HMS, she served as the Senior Administrative Assistant for a large specialty clinic supporting the Chief Operating Officer and Clinics Directors. Additionally, she has worked for many years as a credentialing specialist and supported the Chief Nursing Officer for a community hospital. She is passionate when working with people in the community and loves helping others. Amy enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, attending their kids' sporting events and taking care of all their farm animals. She hopes to travel more and build memories with her family.

Director of Growth & Engagement

Alan Faith

Alan is an esteemed registered nurse with over two decades of experience across critical care, flight nursing, burn unit, disaster management, trauma program management, sepsis program development, injury prevention, leadership, and stroke program development. Graduating with honors from both Allen College and Western Iowa Tech Community College, Faith has been recognized with prestigious accolades such as the 2017 Iowa Hospital Hero and the Citizenship Award from Hinton EMS for his exceptional contributions to healthcare and EMS education in and around the Siouxland Area. He is an accomplished speaker, haven spoke at regional and national healthcare conferences, advocating for continuous improvement within the healthcare environment.
