About the Position
The RN strives for quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act and BBGH policies. The RN ensures practice is in accordance with competency required for their area of practice. The position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self (or others who are under her/his direction). This is done, in part, through participation in performance improvement initiatives. The RN provides care in a collaborative manner with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes. In managing patient care, the RN will take a leadership role coordinating the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with other health team members to enhance patient outcomes.
Patient-centered care coordination is a core professional standard and competency for all registered nursing practice. Based on a partnership guided by the healthcare consumer's and family's needs and preferences, the registered nurse is integral to patient care quality, satisfaction, and the effective and efficient use of health care resources. Registered nurses are qualified and educated for the role of care coordination, especially with high risk and vulnerable populations (ANA Code of Ethics with Interpretive Statements, 11/2010).
The RN has a responsibility to act as educator to their peers, patients, and their families.
